Classes: Debugging

Class 9: Mini Project I

In this online coding class, the live Coding Coach will help participants build upon their understanding of loops from previous lessons in order to use loops to craft personalized designs and artifacts. Through this project-based sequence, participants will differentiate between commands that need to be repeated in loops and commands that should be used independently. Overall, participants will not only create stunning artwork but also recognize the benefits of using loop structures instead of manual repetition in their creations.

Class 10: Pre-defined Actions

In this online coding class, the live Coding Coach will show participants how events can add flexibility to pre-written algorithms. By distinguishing between events and actions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how events drive program execution and enable dynamic interactions. By the end of the lesson, participants will be proficient in recognizing and utilizing events in programming, enhancing their problem-solving and computational thinking skills.

Class 11: Events-driven Actions

In this online coding class, the live Coding Coach will teach participants that events play a crucial role in computer programs. To deepen their understanding of events, participants will create a game where their character moves across the screen, makes noises, and reacts to obstacles based on user-initiated events. Ultimately, participants will not only have created their own game, but also learned to customize it by changing the visuals or rules, showcasing their creativity and understanding of event-driven programming.

Class 12: Mini Project II

In this online coding class, the live Coding Coach will direct and oversee participants' creations of their own animated game. Participants will employ their knowledge of algorithms, loops, debugging, and events in order to program the characters in their game to move around the screen, make noises, and change backgrounds based on user input. Upon completing their interactive games, participants will present their projects to fellow coders.
